Champ Kart Indoor Racing Events Taking Shape In Baltimore, Providence. Atlantic City; Trio Of High Profile Races Provide Sponsorship Opportunities
TRENTON, NJ - The roar of racing engines outdoors, soon to be silenced across the Northeast, will reverberate anew in early December through early February with Indoor Auto Racing events planned for Baltimore, MD., Providence, R.I. and Atlantic City, N.J.
Champ Karts, one of two racing classes scheduled in the three Indoor areas, will be featured at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore on December 8, at Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence on December 31, and at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. N.J. on February 1-2, 2013. The three events are produced by Len Sammons Motorsports Productions.
Entries, limited to 42 in Baltimore and Providence and 50 in Atlantic City, have been coming in at a steady rate for the first two events in Baltimore and Providence. Heading this list are Glen Meisenhelder, Feeding Hills, Ma., Ron Midford Jr., Tolland, Ct., Brandon Ruszek, Wallingford, Ct., and the Sullivan brothers, Brian and Tom of South Windsor, Ct.
The driver the Champ Kart drivers will need to beat is Chris Daley of Wappingers Falls, N.Y. Daley was two-for-three in 2011 Champ Kart Indoor racing and actually was first in the third race until a post-race technical violation elevated early 2012 entry Meisenhelder into the victory spotlight.
Time trials and a series of qualifying races will narrow the entries down to twenty-two starters for 25-lap Champ Kart feature events.
The addition of the Baltimore race to the previous two events provides Champ Kart racers with three major events in three destination cities.
The 1st Mariner Center is near the popular Camden Yards and is in the middle of Baltimore’s trendy Inner Harbor area, a tourist mecca with dozens of shops, restaurants and attractions.
The Providence race in the Dunkin Donuts Center is the fifth Indoor race at that venue promoted by Sammons. The December 31 scheduling - on New Years Eve - has provided race teams and their followers with a rare opportunity to compete against one another, then party the night away and herald the coming of the new year.
The 2013 running at Boardwalk Hall will be the eleventh event under Len Sammons Motorsports Productions. Racing indoors in Boardwalk Hall took place for the first time in 1938.
The Champ Kart events in Baltimore and Providence offer $500 to the winner and $50 to start the feature race. Atlantic City pays $1,500 to win if the driver participates in the optional Gambler's Bonus Program.
A point fund will be distributed to the top three drivers from each event. Points will be award for qualifying and feature finishes. The top driver from the three- race series will receive a $500 bonus; these awards will increase as sponsorship is acquired.
Brandon Moss from Mullis Speed Concepts is the first person to contribute to the point fund. Additional race, series and contingency sponsorships are available.
Title, associate and race sponsorships are being sought for each of three races. The signing of a major sponsor for the three event Indoor Race Series is anticipated. Advertising is also available in the three event programs.
