In the description of "What is a Champ Kart" it said a champ kart had a floating cage. Doesn't a true champ kart have the caged welded to the frame? QRC karts and some caged karts have floating cages, but the are not allowed to run with champ karts in sanctioned races. Is that correct?
Is there any performance advantage in floating cages and welded cages?

This is a reply I got back from WKA on the subject of adding a cage to a flat cart; Can a professional cage be purchased and added to a flat kart with the correct wheelbase be raced as a Champ Kart? > I am not aware of a professionally made after market cage. If you are considering this idea, check with the manufacturer of the flat kart you are considering to see how adding a cage would affect the handling of the kart.My understanding is that flat Karts have a lot of flex in their chassis by design. Welding on a cage will remove that flex which will affect your handling. www.qrckarts.com/store/index.cfm/category/10/qrc-cages.cfmJC Specialty also sells the mounting springs. You may need to call them. www.jcspecialty.net/
